Monotonous, non-motile, tiny spherical unicells with a single parietal chloroplast.Occurs free living and as a symbiont zoochlorellae in some protists,eg. Paramecium bursaria,and in invertebrates eg. Hydra viridissima. Useful alga for showing oxygen liberation during photosynthesis. Or for use in haemacytometers as substitute for blood corpuscles.
