Plankton net collection from an eutrophic lake in Cheshire. Seasonal variations may occur but typical samples often contain diatoms, dinoflagellates, chlorophytes, cyanophytes and chrysophytes etc. Possible predation by zooplankton necessitates that the sample is observed within a few days following receipt.
Prior to use it is best to keep culture near a north facing window (no sunlight) at ambient room temperature 10-25°C.
Cultures usually remain viable for up to two weeks
