Algae

The Algae are a diverse, morphological group of eukaryotic, photoautotrophic organisms possessing chlorophyll pigments essential for photosynthesis. Algae vary in form and may be unicellular, colonial, filamentous or thalloid. The majority of algae contain a cell wall, cytoplasm, chloroplast, a contractile vacuole and a nucleus, plus smaller but essential organelles mitochondria and pyrenoids. Motile algae also contain two extra organelles, an eyespot (stigma) and flagella (undulipodia). PLEASE NOTE: Our cultures are generally used for teaching in schools, undergraduate classes and for small projects . If cultures are required for postgraduate research or commercial purposes then we advise users to independently verify indentification prior tp use. We do not guarantee correct identification of any of our strains.
